My Bike Is Back

Since I moved to LA my bike has sat unused and dissasembled in it's bike box resting in my front closet. What a waste! With gas prices on the rise along with my conciousness of green politics having an unused bicycle is more than a waste, it's nearly unethical. There are so many short trips to the grocery store or a restaurant and longer trips like my daily commute to work that can and should be undertaken with human power in place of gasoline power.

No more. Today I went to my neighborhood bike shop to pick up my reassembled and fully tuned riding machine.

And to top it off I'm feeling abitious. I plan to wake up bright and early tomorrow morning and see how the commute to USC from my apartment will be. Admittedly, I'm in terrible shape, probably the worst shape of my life, but half the point of riding my bike to work is to do something about this by using my body.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Happy happy, joy joy! The Bianchi is back in riding shape!

Woo-hoo!

Gas here in the District is over $3 per gallon (regular seems to average $3.15 in NW, super something close to $3.50), so driving seems absolutely daft in a lot of instances (save for the odd trip to IKEA - could you imagine carting home a kit from them on a bike rack?).

So I ride as much as I can. Yesterday saw lots of bike love. And the commutes will continue.

So.... did Julie's bike get reassembled, as well?

Julie's bike is also all put together and we are looking forward to some nice weekend rides.

Now I just have to convince her to bike to work with me!

Hey now, you don't work in the Dean's office at a desk off the "Special VIP Guest" entry door. If I didn't have to fuss with skirts, pressed shirts and a pretty hair-do (haha), I'd be on my bike with you tomorrow morning! Alas, to have a geek tech job... ;) Maybe during the summer, when things are less pressing around the office, with fewer visitors, I can pull off a few days a week. :)
