I Love My Job

| | Comments (2)

Three full days down and I love going to work like never before.

Day 1: Ran around signing papers, setting up my PC and Mac, ordering software, and just getting the lay of the land.

Day 2: Attended the staff orientation and had my brain overwhelmed by all the benefits information, went to my first department meeting, and got my username.

Day 3: Learned about my first three projects, started learning the custom CMS, had lunch at the international student bazaar on the quad, and scheduled briefing meetings for the next week.

Now I have to choosewhich health plan I want by tomorrow morning and I have no idea what to pick. Here's hoping a good night's rest helps with that one...

In short, I am really looking forward to digging into my projects and am enjoying the routine I am starting to get into.

Over the next days expect a return of my etc. section in the form of a del.icio.us feed and in the coming weeks I will be updating the site's general design and content.

My grandparents use Kaiser, and they don't seem to be too fond of it. Even though it costs more, you'd probably be better off going with the University PPO. Stay away from the Hibbert Moneymaking Orgainzations.

Another "nay" vote for Kaiser Permanente. I've had many friends find their level of service extremely lacking.

I'm with Jeremy: go with the USC PPO plan. Such plans are usually the most flexible. For example, the Georgetown University PPO (which is administered through United Healthcare) has been nothing short of fantastic with my shoulder injury. They completely covered almost everything, few (if any) questions asked.

And be sure you fund a MERA account for the incidentals that aren't covered by the PPO.
