Palpatine On The Senate Floor

| | Comments (1)

In an unexpected appearance, the Dark Lord of the Sith was seen in the Senate today. For some time now, many have suspected the evil hand of the dark side of the force in the proceedings of our goverment.

Radicals have struggled to take control of the courts, to destroy treasured Constitutional rights, and to quiet dissent. Now it appears that a hearty band of rebels is prepared to stand against the power of the dark side.

Frank Lautenberg, the maverick Senator from New Jersey, strode to floor armed with an image of the evil leader of the Galactic Empire to make the point that changes proposed to the Senate rules will have long-lasting effects for our republic.

The lifetime appointments of these radical candidates will define jurisprudence for the rest of our lives. Lautenberg's move brings humor to this serious debate while revealing the dire threat to America.

As Star Wars III opens in theaters today, America will experience an odd sense of vertigo as that galaxy far far away and ours collide. The plot of the prequel trilogy has revolved around a scheming senator, drunk on his dark power, who works to transform the Republic into the Empire.
Today America is facing a dangerous power grab as Republicans in the Senate attempt to shut down deliberation about judicial nominees.
