The New York Times Redux

| | Comments (0)

After months of rangling with The New York Times over my delivery subscription, things were going well. As time passed, Julie and I discovered that while we look at the paper every day we don't really read it enough to warrant a seven day subscription and could save a little money by taking only Sunday delivery of the paper.

Knowing my history with their customer service people, I hesitantly called the number not knowing what to expect. Fifteen minutes of hold music later I asked the woman some questions about my subscription and how the different price structures work. She then told me that they are currently running a promotion for 50% off the first twelve weeks of delivery for any plan.

I thought she meant that if I switch to Sunday-only service that I will get half price for the first twelve weeks. Nice deal but not quite what she had in mind. Instead she offered to continue my seven day service at half price for the next twelve weeks making it the same price as the regular Sunday-only delivery service. A little odd, I think to myself, but perhaps now I will start making full use of my subscription!
