Lynches Say They Can't Discuss POW Rescue

| | Comments (0)

Today's Washington Post reports that "American POW Pfc. Jessica Lynch's parents said Thursday they are not permitted to discuss details of their daughter's capture and rescue in Iraq." This is rather odd in light of recent reports concerning the events of the 'fight to the death' capture that even Pfc. Lynch cannot remember and the subsequent rescue. This past weekend's On The Media carried a story about American reporting of the event and the emerging controversy surrounding the rescue as told by the Pentagon. Saving Private Jessica: Fact or fiction? is a BBC documentary attempting to deal with this issue. The Pentagon refused to comment to the reporter on whether or not American troops encountered resistance during the dramatic raid and now we learn that they have ordered the Lynches to remain silent about the event.

In other news we learn that Paul Wolfowitz admits that WMD was just a convenient excuse for war and the war in Iraq is not over after all. It looks like Bush felt the need to strut around in a flight suit for nothing. Perhaps he will get to do that all over again next time the war ends. Hurry, somebody slow down an aircraft carrier, the President needs a backdrop.
