This week has been rather odd what with the alert level being raised to orange and the nation panicking with the help of the press. One of my coworkers suggested that we create a terrorism readiness kit consisting almost entirely of gin. Perhaps I should suggest it to Mr. Ridge.

I know that it is in high fashion to make fun of the security measures and suggestions being used by our government, yet in addition to being damn funny it is dangerous and irresponsible. These people, even though I distrust them to the nth degree are charged with my safety, with our safety. Even if they know an attack will occur, telling the population to go out and buy a preparedness kit cannot help, it can only increase panic and anxiety. It is just as absurd as bomb shelters were in the 1960's. Hurry everyone, get under your desk like Bert the Turtle who was very alert.
