Software

Today is a big day in the land o' software. When I can't quite focus on my homework my interest switches to my computer.

Microsoft released SP-1 for Windows XP today making pirated versions almost impossible to update. Good thing I recently forked over the seventy bucks it takes to get a legit educational version... While I was at it I got OS X.2 for JC so I can play with it on his Mac. Oh how I yearn for a mac, life would be easier and my desk would be quieter and more attractive.

In addition to dealing with Windows, I am trying to decide what music software to use. Winamp just released version 3.0 and there is something so traditionalistic and subversive about using Winamp; it really sticks it to the Microsoft man as long as you can forget the large chunk owned by AOL. Then there is the old favorite MusicMatch. Great software, integrated MP3 ripping, and again not using the Microsoft standard windows media files. But if I am going that far down the road of MS opposition I might as well buy the Real One player to show Microsoft that while they can force me to buy their operating system I am going elsewhere for my music.

But to pay for music software? how.... vulgar.
